Researchers at Kingston University  have found that leaving your bed unmade may actually prevent the growth of bed bugs. The researchers have discovered that dust mites are unable to thrive in a bed left unmade, due to the warm and dry conditions it creates. In fact, Dr Stephen Pretlove of the School of Architecture at Kingston University is among several specialists advocating for Britons to leave beds unmade (1). They believe this will help banish these mites from their houses, therefore lessening the occurrence of asthma and other allergenic conditions.

Why is soda so unhealthy?

With a whopping 33 grams of sugar per serving, soda is easily the most common source of processed sugar in American diets. On any given day, half the people in the United States consume at least one 12oz serving (one can) of soda. One in four Americans consume more than 200 calories a day from drinking soda, with 5% consuming more than 500 calories from soda each day (1). Soda has been proven to cause diabetes, heart disease, cancer, gout, tooth decay, liver damage, and all other problems associated with obesity. So why is soda so unhealthy?

Pomegranate juice effective in treating prostate cancer

According to the CDC and Cancer.org, the second leading cause of cancer death with men is prostate cancer (1, 2). In 2015, there over 220,000 new cases of prostate cancer in the United States alone (2). This is a very large portion of males in the United States and makes prostate cancer a very serious problem. So serious that 1 of every 38 men will die from prostate cancer (2). With that being said, there is some uplifting news in the cancer research field, and it has to do with the amazing pomegranate fruit.

Does eating chocolate make acne worse?

Rumors and myths about the correlation of chocolate and acne have been around for ever. Although it might sound like a false claim, chocolate actually does increase increase the prevalence of acne. The reason why it does is still unknown but a recent and reputable study has confirmed these hypothesis through a double blind, placebo-controlled, randomized, and controlled trial.

Are low fat diets effective in weight loss?

Recent research and studies are finding that low fat diets are not very effective in weight loss. “Both cross-sectional and longitudinal analyses have failed to show a consistent association between diety fat and body fat” (1). Weight loss from low fat diets was found to be “modest and transient”, suggesting that other factors were more involved in the weight loss.
